As far as I am concerned the British Law has the final word, any divergance from UK Law is wrong, any add ons to the system must be within our laws.
But there is no reason at all why we should not accomodate improvements to our own system..................As long as it doesn't break our own laws.
And that is what the article says...............apart from the attention seeking headline.
