The mother of Austrian kidnap victim Natascha Kampusch was accused in court yesterday of masterminding her abduction to cover up her own sexual abuse of her daughter.
A retired judge claimed that Brigitte Sirny wanted Natascha - a ten-year-old schoolgirl when she vanished in 1998 - out of the way to hide the sexual molestation of her daughter at home. "She was sexually abused so she and Wolfgang Priklopil hatched a plot to kidnap Natascha" said Martin Wabl at the State Court in Graz, Austria.
Wabl produced a string of witnesses who painted Mrs Sirny as a doubtful character, including one who swore the mother allegedly knew Priklopil, the man who held the girl for more than eight years.
