I have worked in three independent schools. In all, the kids were 10 times better behaved than any state school. All had better chances of an Oxbridge placing.

However, my own daughter, state school educated, did win a place at Cambridge, but refused it, as the course she wanted was not broad enough at Cambridge, she went instead to Royal Holloway.
