Default Re: Nuclear Meltdown

I would be interested to know the comparitive risks involved with Nuclear as opposed to Fossil fuels.

Has anybody calculated the "Costs" of the two energy sources ?
I am not talking purely about the price in dollars, pounds, euros or drachmas, but the enviromental costs too.
Oil being the volatile liquid it is, has to be transported in secure containers, or along thousands of miles of flimsy pipelines. Every now and then we have leakages of fumes and liquid, resulting in massive explosions and major enviromental damage.Plus the amount of manufactured hard ware to contain this bulky energy source, all contribute to that cost.

Nuclear is almost pure in comparison, even taking into account the disasters we know about.
