Britain is set to join the space race and explore the universe by sending UK astronauts into the skies and building a major new space research centre to monitor Earth's climate change.

Under the plans, top UK scientist will help drive the initiative by developing new robotic technology.
And a special facility in Harwell, Oxfordshire, will be the centrepiece of the strategy.
