Thousands of pet cats in Beijing are being abandoned by their owners and sent to die in secretive government pounds as China mounts an aggressive drive to clean up the capital in preparation for the Olympic Games.

Hundreds of cats a day are being rounded and crammed into cages so small they cannot even turn around.
Then they are trucked to what animal welfare groups describe as death camps on the edges of the city. The cull comes in the wake of a government campaign warning of the diseases cats carry and ordering residents to help clear the streets of them.

I am without words. How can countries go to these Olympics.
This is an evil cruel government.
Boycott chinese goods.

Totaly agree BUT, easier said than done Poppy.

They did an experiment in Germany recently over trying not to buy Chinese.

They took a Mercedes down to the nuts and bolts.

Metal, bought from China, shaped in Germany, nuts and bolts 50% Germany, 50% China. The metal to make them 100% China. Carpets, made in Germany, yarn, rubber backing, sewing machines to make them, 100% China. Electronics, made in Germany, electronic parts (Transistors, Chips etc), made in China. Paint, made in China. Etc, etc.

Mercedes "Made in Germany" ?

They did the same with many products. All with similar results.

Maybe we couldn't boycott the goods then but we could boycott the Olympics.

IT would be less cruel to just kill the cats than to leave them to suffer like that.

Both, but they have no love for animals. China has no animal protection laws at all.

people can gradually change situations animals cant they are at the mercy of humans.
But I agree they are equally cruel the the poorer sections of their society.
