Just to return to this thread, I think many people are right that in the old days people who lived in the contryside had their lives revolved around the countryside.

Nowadays, people live in the countryside and drive to work in the nearest city every day. They want all the amenities in their countryside-home as those who live in the cities. Too right, of course they are entitled to those amenities but the nature of living in the countryside has changed over past decades.

Well, my husband drives to a city, 60 miles away and back everyday. I commute to another part of the sticks.

I work from home but my wife drives 25 miles to/from her school each day, in the next but one small town. When I say "small", it has a population of under 1500.
