Default Carbon footprint

Personally, I think the carbon footprint, is an absolute ball of hogwash.
Am sure Poppy will have something to say about this, But I am not convinced. All the crap about planting trees to counteract your carbon footprint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Doing this and not flying here there or what ever.
If someone can give me a convincing argument, then I am all ears. What the hell is it all about. I have to admit that I don't have a bloody clue.
Your convincing arguments, Please???????

Easy, I do believe in some of this, if you do as much as we have done to a planet, you are going to get some payback. My true belief lays somewhere between, 50% natural/50% human cause.

Sweets, I am well aware of what we do to the environment, and as you know, I am a follower of the path. But it seems that it is expedient to waffle on about "carbon footprint"It seems that we are being forced onto a guilt trip. If I definitely knew that the precautions that I took, regarding reducing my "CARBON FOOTPRINT" had an effect, and that some bureaucratic asshole is not pushing this in my face for political gain, then I might think about doing something.
I'm not a tree hugger, but I do think and try to do all in my power to help mama nature along.

OK you asked for it you is going to get it. My opinion that is.
To start with carbon footprint is jargonese dreamed up by politicians to defend their carbon trading which is a complete hoax and just enables fat cat companies to make even more money by doing sod all for the environment, but appearing to be green.
WE can all do our own little bit to reduce carbon omissions, this will help, if everyone in the world did this it would slow down climate change a bit.
If we could get the fat cat companies to actually do something instead of just spouting jargon, we could make a big difference.
but all this jargonese is a smoke screen to hide the fact that governments are doing nothing

.....carbon omissions........
Omission: something left out: something that has been deliberately or accidentally left out or not done.

I think you have stumbled on the solution by mistake Poppy.

Im inclined to agree with you.
If we in the Industrialised West do everything we can to lower our pollution levels, we cannot expect the rest of the emerging economies forgo all the advantages we have already.

They do not work everywhere.

I did a test for mine. Take heating for example. Our average heating usage makes us quite high.

BUT we have "town heating" which is heating piped from the heat exchangers on the local power station. Which other wise would end up in the canal, or drifting into space.

Also, the power station is fired by pellets made from the parts of the rubbish collection which can not be otherwise recycled.

So although our heating foot print is high, the method of creation should give us a LOWER score.

I'm trying to persuade OH to let me plant a fruit tree to replace a bush which got nicked. I'd really like to plant 2 fruit trees but I'm having enough trouble persuading him to let me have the one!

The answer is out there, but I would like to venture, if reducing our carbon footprint is another way of saying more tax, nothin in return and you wont notice your utility bill if you don't heat your house, then yes it is bollocks. Does anyone think that the Chinese or India give a tuppenny toss about their carbon footprint? Well, that's two thirds of the world's population so what is a poxy little country like ours going to do to save the world? Stand back and say 'I told you so'? It's the biggest load of old arsewipe I've yet heard, and frankly, just cos we in the West say its serious, doesn't mean anyone else gives a shite, so why bother? Plastic bags indeed. I saw biodregradable nappy sacks in Waitrose today for people with 'conscience'. What about the shitty disposable nappy that goes into it, that still takes about 500 years to decay. More bollocks.

When it comes to burning things, nobody is more efficient than the Germans.
