Default Re cycling

I was sitting down today watching the activity around the local bottle recycling bins.....like you do.
And a thought struck me.......no seriously.....I do think......von?
All those cars arriving and off loading a couple of bottles.........
Have they costed the amount of enviromental damage all them cars cause opposed to the few bottles that get deposited ?

Wouldn't it be far better to send one lorry door to door to collect the bloody lot.....job done.

Can of worms Bruv2. Lots of people have been complaining that the recycling in this country is great in principle, but the way it's conducted is a big gravy train without thought for the environment at all.............

Do you not recyle bottles at home? We have a box for the refuse men to collect

Part of the problem is that councils across the counrty do not have a uniform policy. Waste and recycling are jumbled up as priorities in some areas, it's pissed a few people off, hence the news coverage lately.

Yes we do....they collect every other week, just to confuse you.
We very rarely pick the right day, and miss them most weeks.
My point exactly.........why not do it when they collect the other rubbish?
And do away with the recycling bins, even another van following the real refuse truck would make more sense to me.

Mine is only fortnightly as well but how can you get the wrong day? My wheelie bin is emptied every Wednesday and every other week put paper, bottles, plastic or whatever is seperate. Surely the council don't change the day every few weeks

Same system here, rubbish every Wednesday.
Recycling every fortnight, but on a day we haven't got around to working out.

Yes they do publish it and push leaflets through the door etc.......But I think rubbish should be cleared with the other rubbish, although they call it recycling....still rubbish.

We have alternate weeks, ordinary rubbish and dry recycling/garden waste. 3 wheelies in all.

I cannot believe they collect kitchen rubbish, decaying foodstuffs etc, fortnightly.
It is a major health hazard, firstly for vermin all year around, and in summer, smells and flies.
I understand on the continent they collect several times a week, which makes a lot of sense, smaller loads, mean smaller vans, better hygene, less fuel.
