Default Oil price up despite Saudi pledge

Oil prices have risen after emergency talks among the world's top oil powers and leading consuming nations over the weekend ended with no real resolution.

That's because Saudi don't produce light sweet crude grade necessary for refining into fuels for transport. You'd think somebody might have told Guuurrdun before he took a Jolly to Jeddah. I saw a bit of his speech on TV, all these OPEC members looked bemused as he talked about fuel costs and Saudi oil output.

it is because of the dealers on the exchange markets, the actual price per barrel coming out of the ground has little to do with the prices paid.

Majority of 'light sweet crude' comes from the Americas, mainly but not solely the USA. Don't hear him asking the Yanks to up production do we?

3/4 of the price we pay is Government Tax. They could bring it down drastically, but continue to blame the rise of the cost of petrol/diesel on the price of oil and never the extortionate taxation.

What they need is someone a LITTLE less diplomatic, that would just point these things out gently to him.
