A Senior gas company executive caused outrage last night by making jokes about the his company’s big profits - while customers are paying record prices. Mark Owen-Llloyd, head of power trading at E.On, one of Britain’s big six energy giants, was speaking at an industry seminar about the implications of crippling fuel price hikes. When asked what would happen in a ‘worst case scenario’, with gas and oil prices staying at high levels, he said: ‘It’ll make more money for us’. Many pensioners face a choice between food or fuel this winter... but at least E.On's ead of power trading, Mark Owen-Llloyd, sees the funny side! I think that to say he's out of touch is out of touch is to understate the issue to a very great degree. I also think that companies, and their directors, ought to be brought back into the human race somewhat... They expend all their efforts trying to increase shareholder value, at the expense of the employees, customers, and in many cases suppliers - I think something (Not sure what) needs to be done to regain a little balance. I'm not saying that share value should be ignored, but directors should have to balance that aspect with the other people who actually make their businesses work... H.

Shame he doesn't suffer the indignities that Gerald Ratner went through for telling people he sold 'crap'. They've obviously got a good deal going with NuLabour and the 'you can afford it' brigade.
