| More than one million workers will benefit from a rise in the minimum wage from Wednesday, the TUC has said. The trade union organisation added that women make up more than two-thirds of those who stand to gain. The increase from £5.52 to £5.73 an hour will help reduce the gap in pay between men and women, the TUC said. The minimum wage has increased by 59% since legislation was introduced in 1998, compared to a 44% rise in average pay over the same period. It's a shame, I don't really think there is any justification for multi-million pound pay awards, and some of those (Not all of each, just some) spread out could raise quality of life for a lot of people... Now look what you've gone and done, you've made me come over all communist... gonna have to go and wash now ![]() H.
