Angry Lorry drivers to shut down London

Lorry drivers are to pour into London tomorrow for what organisers hope will be the largest-ever fuel duty protest in the capital.
Hauliers are angry at soaring fuel prices which have resulted in the average cost of diesel passing far beyond the 120p-a-litre mark.

Led by lorry drivers from Kent, the protest is expected to attract hundreds of hauliers from all around the UK.

Bring it on lads (and lassies) I would like to see the country brought to it's knees over this.

Have the usual effect I imagine. Govt MIGHT bring duty off by one or 2p per litre, the drivers will climb down, and then the following week it'll go up again by 3p. That's pretty much what happened last time.

What we need is some DIRECT ACTION. Why do you think those motherf'kers have put concrete barracades outside parliament?

IF they had the bottle about them, they could turn this into Incapability Browns very own "Poll tax" rebellion and get rid of the bastard.

F'kin right. Direct Action.
I get the feeling that if this was France the bastards would be getting lumps of concrete hurled at them by now, whilst 'riot control' officers look on with 'dispair'.

It's started up here too
Fuel protest hits M62

Traffic on the M62 in west Yorkshire slowed to a virtual standstill today when a handful of lorries staged a minor fuel protest.

The trucks slowed to 5mph as they travelled down the Eastbound carriageway between Leeds and Brighouse.

West Yorkshire Police later forced the convoy, including two lorries and a car, to allow other vehicles to pass.

The protest, which started at 11am, came after more than 1,000 lorries drove to London to demonstrate against rising fuel prices, which are causing massive problems for the haulage industry.

Traffic is slow moving on the motorway this early evening.

The Government is claiming that it's not their fault, it's high oil prices. Well if that's the case, and the price of light sweet crude has tripled in 12 months or so, how come the forecourt price has only risen 30%?

Basically, they're saying that if tax is 'green' it's not tax anymore. This time the truckers want a 30p per litre climb down from the Government. EXPECT discruption people.

I believe something like three quarters of what we pay, is government tax. Anybody know exactly?
