Cool £33m child benefit paid to foreign children who live abroad

British child benefit paid to foreign children living abroad has rocketed by an astonishing 72 per cent in just nine months, to £33million a year.
Most of the money is going on 36,000 children still in Poland whose parents are cashing in on European rules that let them claim benefits in the UK after working and paying taxes here for a year.
Ministers were plunged into a new immigration row last night by the figures, only shortly after proposed tax rises for low-income British families sparked intense controversy.

The huge bill for British taxpayers began with the EU’s enlargement in 2004, leading to 800,000 workers from the new member countries moving to the UK.

But it has escalated dramatically as word has spread among Polish communities in Britain, coupled with Polish-language newspapers publishing guides on how to claim the benefit.

This creates more animosity with Polish immigrants. Lets face it, they're being OFFERED this money, so they are taking it. At least with the Poles you don't hear about them murdering each other and doing organised crime, so in many ways, they're cheaper.

Simple solution:

* Don't encorage people to have children they can not pay to support.
* Stop ALL child support.

Immediately you do away with "benefit mothers" who earn a living from dropping bastards (using the word in it's technical sense, not the Von sense), totally end (child) benefit fraud, reduce the requirement for ever increasing taxation and stop all our hard-earned cash going abroad...

All those against, please form an orderly queue by the ticket office at Dover...

I think child support needs to be a little more selective. I don't agree with any benefits being handed out so easily to anybody. Child benefit is (as I understand) available to everyone, no matter how much they earn or how much they have contributed in taxes. I have personally never signed on for a single benefit in my life. I've been working since I was 15 and that's always suited me down to the ground. However, it is nice to know that if some disaster were to strike I could be supported. I've paid taxes for years now so I would expect to recieve child benefit when I have kids! But this news story is just insane. THAT is clearly where my taxes are going at the moment and that is not on!

Don't bank on getting any benefits. I was made redundant due to my company down-sizing in the UK and moving opperations abroad. I went to claim income support, help with mortgage etc and I was told I don't qualify for income support, and I couldn't claim for mortgage relief for 54 weeks!!! In the current economic climate that would equate to about 30-40 weeks after the bank foreclosed, and took my house away.

Why didn't I qualify for income support after working continuously for over 14 years? Because my wife (who was an American citizen) was attempting to follow the correct legal procedure to enter the UK. I was actually told by both our immigration solicitor and the dole office that if she had simply over-stayed and we hadn't filed papers both of us would have been able to claim...

The immigration shambols in this country, and the benefit fraud which it is fostering, is not by accident, it appears, perversely to be by design....

it is all a great big mess, and I cant see any government trying to tackle this one, they will just leave it on one side labelled too complicated

Easy. Means test the benefit.

And like in Germany. NO one gets benefit for the first two years. And even THEN they must have worked FULL TIME for twelve months of those two years.

I've been told that Germany has one of the most comprehensive benefits systems in Europe, does it get abused by immigrants at all?

Well, if you see the amount of Turkish scum that turns up to sign on dripping in gold jewellery, and €1000 shoes, and driving a top class BMW or Audi, then yes.

As to the rest. If you have no work for 3 months, you are "Tomorrow's news arsehole, there is the plane home, now FUCK OFF!"

The way the Turks get around it is that Cousin Mustaffa W'hank, or Uncle W'at-de-Fh'uk Wassat, gives them a 12 month "contract", which says they are working in the kebab shop, (Selling beers wines and spirits, which up until 6 months ago was a pub).

OR, (With all Middle Eastern and East European) the Uncle will claim the bastard as his "own", and be able to claim for a dependent arsehole.

OR they get their Mothers and Sisters to earn the money for them () whilst THEY are claiming dole.

There ARE ways, but deffinately more difficult than the U.K, due to needing the I.D card here to FART in a public place.

(NOT the I.D card that the U.K "Governmet" is having wet dreams about.

Ours have Photo, name, address, D.O.B, and Place of birth, weight, height and eye colour.

That's IT.)
