This was one of the happiest days of my life. My true love, the Avro Vulcan flies again!

YouTube - XH558 Vulcan Bomber first flight
Sweets, I think I may have commented on this before on the other site.
I lived in Minster, Ramsgate Kent 1985-1999. We used to have an air show every other Year at Manston Airport. And I happened to see the last time that the Avro flew. It was mothballed after that.
The sound as it flew in for a bombing run is absolutely terrifying. If I where infantry in a war situation, and heard the Vulcan coming in, the sound alone would have made me surrender.
At the time of the Falklands conflict, it held the record for the longest bombing raid in the history of bombers, 3,380 miles.
In my opinion it was a beautiful site to behold.
Of course, I am biased, liking all things military.

Could not agree more. I last saw it at Southend air show in the 80's. My husband did his apprenticeship on them at 17.

The one in the video, flew for the first time again on the 18.10.08. We hope that it will be at Waddington this year and I cannot wait.

At an earlier show I sat in the cockpit of a, and I really am not sure if it was a Vulcan or a Victor. What I do remember was that it was extremely claustrophobic, and I could not for the life of me see how the pilot was able to see anything, let alone fly it.

That was the reason for one crashing at London airport a few years back.
