I am intersted in knowing about other religions (I don't know much about any) but I rather prefer it to be on my terms. I went to a ery multicultural school and chose to learn Urdu (Bengali & Spanish were the other choices). I was the only non-asian girl in my class and I learnt about my freind's religions through asking questions on a one to one basis. I learn about Christianity from my other friends. I don't want a stranger, who I do not know or have a care for, to interupt my personal time and space to tell me about their religious beliefs. If I have a question I will ask. Put a leaflet through my door and I may read over it, but don't try to force me to listen. It would be interesting to know how many people they manage to convert or encourage to coem along to their church via door to door sales.

It goes back to the biblical story of the shepherd and his lost sheep, they door knock to find lost sheep. It is a part of their commitment to try and save their fellowmen....same as I mentioned earlier.
(Sound like a vicar dont I ?)

One o fmy best friend at school was a JW (as she called herself) and actually all I had to d owas tell them I knew her and was not interested and they left peacefully. However, I did have another two ladies once knock at the door (unknow religion) and I went downstairs, looked through the spy hole to realise who was there and turned around and walked back upstairs. They shouted through the letter box for a while before I had to swaer at them to leave. I don't care if they know I am home - if I choose not to open the door, leave me alonel.

I was raised 'in the faith' by my converted parents, who later left.
I get peed off too, but fully understand where these people get the drive to do what they do, and its not easy to do.....given the reaction on here and at each door they knock.

I always thank them profusely for calling on me, tell them I know my own mind, that I have made my own choices and thank them again, telling them I am very busy sorry we cant talk further, refuse their literature and close the door.

They are exercising the freedoms that you all hold dear.....would you have it any other way ?
I would absolutely NOT have it any other way, but when you live about 300 yards from Twikkers, you tend to get sick of JW Week...

Messing with them was a little bit of fun...

I can totally understand how a Catholic childhood would leave you not believing in God...

I believe religion to be a very personal choice and that is the way it should stay. I have a great amount of respect for those who make their own choices and stick with them. My Mother is a 'yet to be convinced' as she calls it and my Father was a protestant and neither ever tried to force me to believe in either. Just the way I like it.

I know the feeling I have nothing against any religion but I hate it when people come to my door expecting me to give a flying Foccacia...

When an Asian Person comes to my door I don't expect to be converted to Muslim/hinduism/Islam, or anything else I just expect a Hot Takeaway or a Taxi!!!! Steriotyping I know but come on... most of you must admit, when someone knocks on your door when you have a sign saying NO RELIGIOUS PEOPLE for them to actually take note and flip off...
