Yup, I think that about covers it... And also explains why they didn't ASK londoners... Most, I think, believe as you do that London simply won't be able to function in 2012, let alone during the building works... Speaking of which, I assume that the building works are all closely guarded to prevent any little "surprises" getting built into the foundations - Or have they forgotten that too? H.

Bruv...we've been hinting for months ;-) Fun while it lasted though!!! It will do the place good for a while, but I honestly believe there will be a huge problem afterwards - what will they do with the stadiums/arenas/tracks etc. after? Who will pay for them to be maintained? What about all the people employed during the olympics? I know Stratford well as I went to school there - they've been trying to regenrate it for the last 15 years at least and it hasn't made much of a difference. It just looks a bit smarter. I did hear something interesting the other day (it probably just skipped me by!) - the olympic facilities are going to cover an even bigger area than I realised. The largest part is in Stratford (you can see it all from the train station Haqa, and the fences are pretty standard) with other facilities in Walthamstow and some as far out as Waltham Abbey/Cross. They're hardly next to each other and not very well connected. |

Doesn't it all look like a big sand pit at the moment? Builders and the like swaggering around with hard hats on and mugs of tea in hand looking bemused.

Hmm... semtex, det, radio reciever, waterproof bag, drop it in wet cement. The effect of the explosive being encased rather than free would allow a far smaller amount to have a far more devastating effect. H.

| There are some erections that look as though they may eventually be pieced together to form a stadium or arena. You see them as you go through on the train, but otherwise it pretty much is a great big sand pit.

Hmm... travelling by train through docklands to admire some builders erections... Sounds like a job I used to do... H.

| So will all of you down there in London and the south east be happy to pay an additional tax to help cover the costs of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow? After all, it's a national event...
