| Oh must have been terrible. How many times were you shot at the Divis flats, or had your three man foot patrol on Falls Road attacked by a car, or motor bike bomb? Ever had a grenade thrown into the back of your personel carrier? Seen your co worker getting a .50 bullet through the helmet? Not quite. Al quida, or whatever they vcall themselves, are fighting for "WORLD JIHAD". Irak and Afghanistan are just excuses, the same as "Free Ireland" became an excuse after the UDA/IRA bosses started making bloody FORTUNES out of their ability to run. basically "mafia" schemes, all over N.I. |
I am not belittling what the soldiers had to endure, which was awful I had friend serving in Northern Ireland.
I was talking about the feelings I had just going about my day to day life in the town Lived in.
totally different conversation.
Maybe I miss read or misinterpreted the thread. I thought it was about the perceived threat if terrorism, comparing the IRA the Al Queda.
I only have my personal experience to judge by so that is what I did.
I have never had a grenade thrown at me, so cannot even comprehend how awful that is.
I can only tell of my experience.
To tell what a soldier suffers, never having been one, would be presumptuous on my part and totally unacceptable
