Because it is easier at this time of night, than pissing around with marking and clicking stupid fuckin buttons to put in italics and bold.

As with EVERYthing linked with computers, it is unneccessry. The only do it because they CAN.

sorry but the IRA certainly scared me, they were expert terrorists far more effective than anything that has come since.
They had an amazing disruptive effect.
We had a bomb scare almost every week and our work was disrupted every week, this was in the early 70s.
I cant give details I am still bound by the official secrets act, and regardless of what I think of that now I did agree to it and sign at the time.
The IRA did kill members of parliament and a member of the royal family. Not to mention Innocent shoppers pub goers and other members of the public.
I accept that that they are defunct now, the arguments were over the same question, foreign occupied territory
So yes the threat from al qaeda is greater now, but the IRA caused way more disruption to the economy and running of the country, as well as murdering people

they tried so many times to bomb our building, and the main office inside Whitehall.
They couldnt get at us in either building so in the end they put a bomb in the Victorian post box outside one and exploded it. Eventual they did manage to kill an MP in his car near the gate.

Al-Quada are not the same as the internal Muslim threat.
Al-Quada are a bit of a mystery, a loose grouping of like minded nutters, set up to confront the march of american influence throughout the world. They are partly the american's worst nightmare and their bestest present ever, in the fact they now have a genuine enemy to blame for any actions they take anywhere around the globe.

I dont fear Al-Quada half as much as the dissillusioned Muslims in this country who are using Al-Quada as a banner to commit crimes under. And our own people who now have excuses to impose greater restrictions on us, for our own good.
I believe if there were a real internal terrorist threat there would have been many more attacks on soft targets.
My most real fear is the over reaction of decent people to the situation we find ourselves in at the moment. There appears to be an orchestrated rise in national pride, which in itself is not bad, but it seems to be anti outsiders, rather than pro UK, in my view the worse kind.

Oh must have been terrible.

How many times were you shot at the Divis flats, or had your three man foot patrol on Falls Road attacked by a car, or motor bike bomb?

Ever had a grenade thrown into the back of your personel carrier?

Seen your co worker getting a .50 bullet through the helmet?

Not quite.

Al quida, or whatever they vcall themselves, are fighting for "WORLD JIHAD".

Irak and Afghanistan are just excuses, the same as "Free Ireland" became an excuse after the UDA/IRA bosses started making bloody FORTUNES out of their ability to run. basically "mafia" schemes, all over N.I.
