You can usually still find a job in the big cities, perhaps not the right job but a job nonetheless, even in a recession.

Thankfully, we both have pretty safe jobs. Aviation and education will survive I believe.

| Depends what you do. I don't think the private sector for education is as safe as all that because it relys upon people having the fees in the first place. Not such a worry if you're at a well established place tho.

| Agreed but the point is things like this just tar everybody who can't find a job as lazy scroungers. In a town like Acrington where most of the major employers have moved on or just closed it is really hard to find a job

I don't even live in a town as big as Acrington, and moving is out of the question as we live in a staff house provided by my husbands employer... so to move would mean moving my husbands job, and loosing out on the cheap accomodation we live in as most houses now round where I live are going for £550 pcm, which is almost twice as much as what we pay, so would be unable to afford it! I tried to get a job at my husbands work as it is a BIG garden centre so we wouldn't actually be working together and as they have a CLICK there and I'm not "in" so wouldn't be allowed to work the same hours as another Mother who's child is at same school as mine can cos her family work there too!!!!! |
