Black thing. All my grand kids say it. They are half Jamaican. Drives me mad.

Another thing they say is "I never did nuffink", which of course means they did something. But they cannot see that.

Language changes all the time.
Expressions I dislike with a vengeance.....Nobody says goodbye anymore, they say "See you later "
I hate it when someone says they are due to meet "Around mine" meaning their house.

New-cue-lar instead of nuclear...

Insure/ensure - The correct usage is one should ensure that you insure your car... The other way round suggests paying to make sure it actually is a car!!!

Their/There/They're...

my Major annoyance from my friend and she knows it winds me up is " That'll learn him!" No it's "That'll TEACH him!" I know I can speak Broad Yorks from time to time but having one parent who is Lancastrian and one who is Yorkshire, made my school life hell...I was considered too Posh with Lancs Accent to be considered as in with the local crowd and too yorks to be considered posh... although I correct my children on speaking and propper pronunciation I still let them learn the local Ism's so they won't be considered as too Posh!

My Mum spoke very precise Queen's English. In other words, extremely posh. My Dad was cockney. I'd get a slap on the leg for dropping H's from my Mum, and a "don't you try to be what you ain't" from my Nan (Dad's Mum).

Consequently, I speak somewhere between. One here has heard me. I also have one very cockney daughter, and one rather plumy.
