Cool Killing highlights gang culture

Paul Erhahon was killed in east London after being set upon by youths armed with knives, baseball bats and a samurai sword. What does the 14-year-old's death tell us about Britain's urban youth culture?

During the trial of Paul Erhahon's killers it became clear the attack on him was partly linked to something as seemingly trivial as postcodes - in this case E11 and E15. The Old Bailey jury heard a rivalry existed in estates close to Leytonstone town centre.

BBC NEWS | UK | Killing highlights gang culture

What is so ridiculous about this is, the estate this guy was mudered on, was originally an estate that had both E11 and E15 postcodes.

The E15 side I lived on, this part was demolished and I was moved over the other side of the estate. Where Paul was killed was actually within that E15 side, but probably 'classed' as E11.

made me think of this KenLivingstone quote

Quote:
Regarding the teenage violence that had plagued London in 2007, Tim Donovan put these questions to the Mayor:

"Are you worried about this recent spate of teenage violence is it something new and alarming?... Tony Blair said, not long ago, that this was a black, cultural thing, do you agree?"

To which he replied:

"There is an element of that, particularly around the drug trade but NO! IT’S A LOT OF WHITE KIDS STABBING OTHER WHITE KIDS!"

It's true then, in Britain today it really is a postcode lottery.

Paul and his friend were unarmed and stood no chance.

The INFERENCE is, that if they had been armed, then it could have saved their lives.
