You can refuse resuss, they asked me when my hubby was ill just prior to him dying. Luckily he came to so I was able to ask him, his answer was "I have had enough" and the staff honoured his decision. He was made comfortable and allowed to pass.

That is the correct way to do it Bernie, but I bet you knew his answer. I know my husband would rather pass on than ever be handicapped in any way. Me too.

Had a good idea of his answer but was more concerned with what his lads would say. Turns out he had already talked about it with them, just so hard to talk honestly with each other because on the one hand you don't want to lose them but on the other their suffering is hard to bear as you know.

Which is exactly why I have spoken about it to my daughters. I see the youngest more often and she is the wisest, and she and my husband know I want a humanist funeral, cremation and my ashes scattered somewhere green and lovely. They both also know that I want my organs given to anyone that needs them.
