Zero Tolerance

Boris Johnson is going for zero tolerance to petty crime, anti social behaviour, and banning drinking on London transport.

I wanted this many moons ago.

Hmm. On the face of it a good idea.

But where are the extra enforcers going to come from?

He says he's going to use community support officers, who have about the same amount of authority as Traffic Wardens. Everyone is wondering how he's going to Police it.

no, see atraffic warden & you move your car should it parked somewhere it should not be, with "plastic police" you just stand there & rip the piss or the kids round here do?

I guess it'll work the same way as the council-employed litter police who can issue you a fine for littering the streets.

Aye. But if they get told to "fluck off" and have to get the police to back them up for every ticket they issue, then...

I like the Swedish system. The ticket inspectors have full police powers ON the transport, and in stations, AND they are armed.

I have never in my life seen anyone either here or in London, fined for littering, and it goes on willy nilly. Go for it Tel!

I say we should have heavily armed community support officers, complete with two hours firearm training.
