Default Zimbabwe opposition to pull out

Zimbabwe's opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has decided to pull out of the presidential run-off on 27 June, party officials have told the BBC.
The decision, taken at a meeting of the leadership of the Movement for Democratic Change in Harare, means Robert Mugabe will remain as president. The MDC says the decision comes after at least 70 of its supporters have been killed in the run-up to the poll.

Sad. But understanable.

Pretty decent of them actually, they've avoided full scale civil war which no doubt would have cost thousands of lives and run on for years.

Hubby thinks Mugabe is clinging on by any means possible, because he will be up for war crimes and crimes to humanity the minute he steps down.

The last I heard was he was only thinking about withdrawal.
Whatever he does he cant win, if he runs, he gets accused of putting his people in danger, if he withdraws he is running scared or knows he cant win.

I know a little of the mentality that has caused the events in Zimbabwe, and it infuriates me that the people cannot organise a demonstration of strength to oppose the current events.Perhaps a mass boycott of the election, so nobody turns out, just a simple stay at home protest.
I cannot see this sort of thing happening anywhere else in the world

The rest of Africa could step in and help any time they want to.Only they won't because the whole continent is still hopelessly primitive in terms of democracy, and many African leaders still support Mugabe, even if they won't admit it in public which is why they just don't comment at all. Why do we waste so much time and money helping these countries when they can't even help themselves?
