The horse, while magnificent, is probably the dumbest animal on the planet, and while it is able to jump much higher in most circumstances, will die of starvation behind a three foot fence and never think of jumping it.

They don't care about us, probably have never heard of us, so why should I give a fig for them, and why should my/our taxes be taken from me/us, when they are meant to (presumably) keep us fed/healthy if nothing more, in OUR day of need.

I think fluck it, we help everybody else regadless of government so why not them.

The individual people who are suffering and need our help are not the pig headed government. As Poppy said they are Burmese by accident of birth not by choice.
