Default The great post colonial democracy

Surprised he hasn't just abolished elections.

BBC NEWS | World | Africa | Troops 'must back Mugabe or quit'

Zimbabwe's army chief has told soldiers they must leave the military if they do not vote for incumbent President Robert Mugabe in next month's run-off poll.

I think you get me totally wrong.
Mugabe is an arsehole......I do however see why and what he has tried to do within his own country against the might of western neo-colonialism.( I dont like using such phrases, but thats the way it is)

On the face of it, a General saying such a thing, with the situation as it is in Zimbabwe, is fair enough.
Similar to WW2 Generals galvanising the troops before entering into battle.
Whether the soldiers put thier ticks in the correct box, is another question.

I always see this type of news article as part of an anti Mugabe campaign, I am sure there are other news stories from Zimbabwe that might be put foreward to show the other side of the story.

A quick trawl found these......READ ALL with an open mind....they are ALL biased.
AFROL News MDC Violence
This is Zimbabwe Government Troop violence
Zim Sunday Mail MDC Violence

Another two articles giving the Zimbabwean view.....try changing Zimbabwe into UK when reading it.....and see what difference that makes.

World food crisis
Zimbabwean Empowerment

Aye RIGHT. Because if you read "Der Stürmer" (The "news" paper" published by Julius Streicher). You would see Hitler was REALLY a MUCH misunderstood nice guy. Who NEVER in his WHOLE life meant any harm to the Jews/Gypsies/Homosexuals/Etc, etc.

Lies, damned lies, and political reporting...

The truth of the matter is that in many countries across the world, violence is used as a tool of political advancement. It isn't (or shouldn't be) in this country, but it has been in the past.

We won't change Zimbabwe because they don't want to listen to us. They have their reasons. If people want to help over there, go live over there, THIS country needs our whole, concerted efforts to solve the problems we have, and frankly what happens over there doesn't matter right now, just so long as they keep their problems to themselves.
