Pollution, don't get me on that. There may be problems, but absolutely nothing like it used to be. That's what gets me when people go on about it. It has improved 1000 fold since the 60's.

Of course, one of the biggest moans is aircraft, when in fact they have improved their carbon footprint enormously in the last few years.

I completely agree, but there is always room for further improvement. As technology increases, so there are opportunities for more efficient engines, or less wasteful power sources, less carbon transfer etc... We should always try to strive for better, because in the long run we (the species) will benefit...

It is being worked on continually. Airbus380 has on the tail "A better environment inside and out" and is probably the greenest yet.

I have to admit, that aviation though a very heavy polluter, works harder than any other polluters to get greener all the time. They are not just going down the offsetting road, which is just a big con. But genuinely work to green up the engines.
I cant believe I just gave aviation a plug.
I must go and say 5 hail oak trees.

exactly why cannot folk see that. if something bad is happening adding to the situation only makes it worse. The obvious thing is to try to counteract the bad, not add to it.
