Default Animal testing increases due to GM experiments

Scientific testing on animals increased again last year, largely as a result of a rise in genetic modification experiments, figures from the Home Office show.

The number of licensed animal testing procedures was just over 3.2 million in 2007, a rise of some 6% on 2006.

The Home Office, which regulates animal testing, said the increase in procedures was mainly due to more breeding of genetically altered animals.

In 2006 the number of procedures rose 4% to exceed 3 million for the first time since 1991, again largely due to GM experimentation.

Yet another reason (If one were needed) why genetic modification is just a bad idea?

This is obscene, mankind does not have the right to do any of this. Playing at god, and again just to make the super rich richer

No, we shouldn't be experimenting with GM, nor should we, then be testing our "frankenstein foods" on animals to see if they are safe to eat.

I tend to agree. There is more than enough food in this world to feed us all, it's just that the West hoard it, and the rest sit around waiting for handouts.

Thsi sort of thing is rife and leads to more unethical behaviour by companies in testing too. Anybody remember Dolly? Now we have a bill that allows manipulation of Human DNA; chip, chip, chip.

A former work colleague of mine previously worked at Porton Down Military research. She told me they were 'growing' blue sheep there in the early 90's. Fuck knows why, nobody was allowed to ask.

Now we have a law that permits the fusing of animal and human DNA, to create.... what? Why? Anyone know? I don't...
