Default Transferring files to another PC

My step daughter needs to put all her stuff from the home PC onto her Laptop.
I believe I need a Crossover cable, is this the same as an ethernet cable ?

I would do as emmylou says, load it all onto flash sticks it wont clog up the lap top you can work straight from them, some of my sticks have more memory than some of my friends old lap tops.
Apart from that you can carry them with you, (they are really small now) so you can use any computer in Internet cafe or library.
You can of course upload he stuff from them o the lap top and then keep them as back up for both pc and lap top.

Not that the other answers aren't very good, but to answer you question, a crossover cable is an ethernet cable that is wired in a special way.

They can be purchased from most PC stores.

If you need more details, or how to set it up, just ask.

Since asking, I have discovered I can make one from an old LAN cable I have somewhere.
I have a carrier bag full of miscelanious PC and other extraneous cables that they throw at you with everything you buy these days.....I know I have a LAN cable, came extra with the cable modem......All I have to do is find it......yeah right.
Problem is.....I think the daughter tidied it up....bitter irony.
Doubt very much she can find it....when she returns home shortly.
That'll learn her for tidying MY stuff.....
