banner and sig software

I just downloaded some really simple free animated banner and gif software.
I made a very simple banner just to try it.
It is OK but basic, and if I want to lose the ad in the corner I have to pay.
Anyone know any decent free or low cost software that is good.
this is one template. I used the stone of the viaduct as rocks.

I have a few progies, but most of them are design programs.

I normally use fireworks, but I've got a few programs where you can design the frames and then stich them together.

I don't normally use image creators, but I'll see what I can find...
