favicon?

I have made a favicon, but dont know what to do next.
do I have to host it online somewhere, if I do I cant as photobucket and the like wont accept it.
it is in a file on my computer and that is it.
Any ideas but it will have to be in very simple English ?

Photobucket is pissing me off big-time. It keeps removing my pictures, even though I have paid for more space. I won't bother next year. Imageshack is supposed to be good, but I cannot work it out.

If is is on your computer, either copy and paste, or right click, go to 'properties'. Copy the URL to where you want to 'stick it'.

I have no idea what a favicon is

it is a tiny icon that goes in front of the web address in he address bar, and in front of the bookmark on your favourites list
If you have Internet explorer you have a blue e on a page in front of the http://
well a favicon is a custom made image that replaces that.
