Ive just got an email from 'natwest' saying someone has tried to
access my account...

ive had a nosy at it and although it does look very convincing,heres what make me think its a con...

I am not a natwest customer, it was sent to various different email addresses and not just me, they cant spell properly.

It connects you to a website identical to the real natwest one..... and the worse one of all IT ASKS FOR YOUR PIN ! and cash card number and password!

watch out.. and never give anyone your pin.

I had a similar email, only this time from HSBC. Didnt bother going into it as I dont bank with HSBC, so I guessed it was a con. If some one had tried to access my account, I take no notice of emails, I want a phone call!

I get at 3 of these emails everyday on my work emails, which I clearly do not use for banking purposes! The main give away is that they address you as 'Dear Customer' - if you look at the info on the real bank websites about spoof and phising this is the one comment they always mak . They will only refer to you by name, information hackers do not (necessarily) have. I like to do my bit for the security of online accounts and report as many of the emails as possible to the banks. They often have a specific email you can forward the spoof mail to. For example, paypal's designated email address is spoof@paypal.com.
