For the first time, scientists have discovered that drinking alcohol frequently may reduce the severity of rheumatoid arthritis, a painful progressive disease of the joints that affects people of all ages.
A team from Sheffield University found people with the condition who said they drank alcohol on more than ten days in the last month showed less damage to their joints, less inflammation, less pain, swelling and disability than those who never drank alcohol. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/he...arthritis.html See! Medicinal, always said that's why I like a drink................ehemm!

HAH! They will not believe me when I tell them the BEST thing I can do to get rid of a gout attack is to drink 3 to 5 liters of beer!
GERMAN/Dutch/Danish beer, NOT British, and PARTICULARLY not Irish or Belgian. They DO bring on and INCREASE gout.

The last time I got involved with home brew a pint and a half had me falling all over the place. Anything above 1 1/2 pint and you got ammnesia big time but funny no sore head. But would it reduce arthritis never found out. Should have come with a health warning.

Home brew depends on all kinds of factors.
For example, I sometimes make a home brew cider, but instead of using 2 kilo sugar, I use 20 kilo honey, and leave the bottles for two or three YEARS, not months. That has a strength a bit more than an "Offy" wodka. So about 70 to 80%. The main problem here is, you can not buy the brew kits. You have to go "from scratch". Even to, on occasion, picking your own hops. Wines are O.K to make as well. But I am not really a wine drinker.
